#99: Curiosity

Happy Monday! 🌸

Welcome to Your Monday Moment, a weekly newsletter that helps you get centered and build momentum for the week ahead. All in 10 minutes or less.

In this week’s newsletter, we’ll cover:

  • 🌊 Mantra Breakdown: Curiosity is the ultimate shortcut to unlocking the flow state.

  • 🧠 NEW! Feature Alert: How to get better at focusing each day.

  • 🌎 It's All Good (News): Select fish rebound as the U.S. hits a record low on the overfishing list, a Californian drive-thru food pantry feeds thousands consistently, and a 72-year-old bird named Wisdom isn’t wasting any time.

Dear newsletter readers,

Today, we’re reaching out with some bittersweet news from the heart of our Monday Moment newsletter team. With thoughtful consideration, we have decided to pause Monday Moment after next week’s issue.

This decision was not made lightly.

In the last two years, we’ve embarked on an incredible journey together, exploring eye-opening topics spanning personal growth and mindful productivity. Each issue has been crafted as a genuine labor of love to brighten your Mondays and enrich your entire week.

Rest assured, our dialogue doesn’t end here. We’re excited to keep you updated about new features from Momentum.

As we enter this new phase, we deeply value your feedback. Your voice is the oxygen that fuels us forward. Please reply to newsletter@momentumdash to share how this newsletter impacted you, your relationship with the dashboard, or work in general.

Lastly, we encourage you to evaluate what could use a “mindful” pause in your life. It can be challenging to stop doing something you’ve done for a while, but sometimes shifting gears can be the start of a new expansive chapter. 🙏 💙

Wishing you an open heart and clear mind,

The Monday Moment Team

 🌅 A BRIEF MEDITATION

Imagine standing at the edge of a wheat field in Poland—the light filtering through the wheat, creating a soft, golden hue.

A breeze begins to blow, setting each stalk in motion, swaying and rippling.

Just as the wind provides direction, so does your curiosity. It points you toward what intrigues you, what effortlessly captures your attention. As you watch the patterns form, what do they reveal?

Embrace the feeling of the breeze, knowing it also carries the energy of discovery.

Curiosity is not a distraction; awareness allows you to explore, connect, and create patterns that enrich your life.

⚡️ MANTRA BREAKDOWN

There's a gift in every task.

Think back to the last time you slipped into a flow state – an effortless stream of focus where time seemed to melt away.

You may not have begun your task brimming with energy or concentration, but like a magnifying glass channeling light onto a wick, your focus transformed your experience.

Cultivating such intense focus isn't always simple. When our minds are cluttered with distractions, achieving that level of concentration can feel impossible-- especially during tedious tasks.

In such scenarios, curiosity is like a fire starter – a shortcut to the flow state.

Here's a mental hack to spark it:

Imagine every task you encounter (even the lengthy or repetitive ones) conceals something fascinating, like an insight waiting to be discovered that could simplify the task or make it more enjoyable.

Committing to this perspective unlocks feel-good emotions and makes even the most challenging tasks interesting.

This mindset requires effort initially, but it's a skill that will keep you endlessly engaged. It will open portals of creativity and fulfillment in areas of your life you didn't know were possible.

ESSENTIAL QUOTES TO ADD

  • "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." – Albert Einstein

  • "Curiosity is, in great and generous minds, the first passion and the last." - Samuel Johnson
